4 km traffic jam on Daulatdia-Paturia route
Due to the navigability crisis, the ferry service on the Daulatdia-Paturia route is being disrupted. As a result, long queues of vehicles have been formed waiting for the crossing at Daulatdia.
Trucks and covered vans are waiting to cross the ghat on Friday in the four-kilometer stretch of the Dhaka-Khulna highway from Zero Point. These vehicles have to wait a long time to get the ferry.
As a result, the drivers and passengers of these vehicles are suffering. Most of these vehicles waiting to cross are trucks and covered vans. Passenger buses are being passed first with priority.
It is learned that the water level in the ferry has gone down from the pontoon due to the low water level in the Padma. As a result, it takes a lot of time to get on and off the ferry at each wharf.
Prafulla Chauhan, manager of BIWTC's Daulatdia Ghat branch, said there were enough ferries on the Daulatdia-Paturia route. At present 20 small and big ferries are plying.
But due to the navigability crisis on the river, ferry loading and unloading is taking much longer. Due to this, the queue of vehicles waiting at the wharf is increasing.
