At least 15 people have been killed in a horrific metro train crash in Mexico. According to the New York Times, 70 more people were injured in the tragic accident.

The accident happened on Monday, May 03 at night. The overpass section of 12 lines of the metro is breaking from the top and falling on the road below.

A video of the crash was aired on Mexican media channel Milenio Televisión, Reuters reported. There, 12 lines of the metro were seen breaking along with the train and falling on the roads and vehicles below. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said 15 people were killed in the crash and a car was still stuck under the wreckage.

Reuters added that there have already been allegations of irregularities in the construction of the bridge. Mayor Claudia said firefighters and civilian security officials are continuing to work. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals.

Meanwhile, the video spread on social media shows the medical crew and fire service personnel are working to rescue the survivors from the scene immediately after the accident. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said a committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the crash.
