Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan has said that no decision has been taken to increase fares in Bangladesh Railway.

Rail is a service organization, he said. We are serving the people. We are committed to provide easy and comfortable service to the people through the overall development of railways.

The minister was responding to a reporter's question at a function held at Kamalapur railway station on Saturday, November 13. The event was organized to resume the stopover at Brahmanbaria station via Jayantika Express train.

The Railway Minister said that on March 26, the station master's room, operating room, VIP room, chief booking assistant's room, ticket counter, panel board, signaling equipment, point signal box, level crossing gate, and other facilities at Brahmanbaria station were vandalized and set on fire. The incident caused a loss of Tk 2.5 crore to Bangladesh Railway.

From the day after the incident, all intercity train stoppages at Brahmanbaria station was canceled. It is being re-launched after a long eight months.

He said the journey will be the same from today as it was before. The station has 14 intercities, eight mail, and four commuter train stoppages.
