US has warned India against buying fuel oil from Russia. The White House says India should consider whether to buy fuel from Russia after seeing the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

On Monday, US President Joe Biden held a virtual meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi at the White House. Although the Ukraine-Russia crisis was discussed at the meeting, Biden did not directly ask PM Modi about buying fuel from Russia.

However, a White House administration official said that the US, while not directly, believes that India should refrain from buying fuel from Russia. This is because India's behavior in the Ukraine crisis could harm US activities against Russia.

The White House said in a statement that the two leaders had discussed issues other than the energy with PM Modi. This discussion will be useful for the development of the two countries in the future. However, the White House hopes that India will make the right decision on its own, in line with US expectations regarding oil purchases from Russia.
