'US committed to expanding ties with Bangladesh'

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that the United States is committed to expanding relations with Bangladesh. He said this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Independence Day of Bangladesh.

The message was published on the website of the US Embassy in Bangladesh.

In his congratulatory message, Blinken wished the people of Bangladesh a happy 51st Independence Day on behalf of the United States Government.

Mr. Blinken said: "Our two countries have struggled for independence and we are working hard to uphold our established democratic ideals. Over the past five decades, our mutual cooperation has ensured a secure and prosperous future for the present and the future."

"We applaud your commitment as the highest contributor to peacekeeping operations for Bangladesh's development and economic success and to keep the world safe," it said.

"Our defense, development, trade, and people-to-people partnerships are stronger than ever," he said.

"We will build ourselves on this foundation in the next few decades."

"The United States is committed to expanding relations with Bangladesh so that the two countries can improve together," he added.
