Police have recovered the floating body of a 50-year-old woman named Asma Begum from Hatirjheel Lake in the capital.

Hatirjheel police recovered the body on Friday, February 25 at around 12 noon.

Hatirjheel Police Station OC Abdur Rashid said that on Friday around 11 am, the locals saw something resembling a body floating in Hatirjheel and informed the police.

Later, the police came to the spot and recovered the body, and took it to the police station. Police later confirmed the identity of the body through fingerprints.

Her name is Asma Begum, aged between 50-55 years. Her house is in the Aditmari Govardhan area of ​​Lalmonirhat.

Hatirjheel police sub-inspector (SI) Subrata Debnath told that there were no signs of injuries on the body of the deceased. CC TV footage is being collected.

The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy to unravel the mystery of the exact cause of death.
