PM directed to expedite expansion work of Shahjalal Airport

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the concerned authorities to expedite the expansion work of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

A statement from the Press Wing of the Prime Minister's Office said that in addition to giving other necessary instructions, she also directed to take steps for the acquisition of land at Chattogram Airport.

Prime Minister gave this instruction while witnessing the progress (first phase) (1st amendment) presentation of the expansion work of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at her official residence Ganobhaban this morning.

The total progress of the work is 32 percent and the work is expected to be completed by November 2023.

Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities to take the work forward keeping in mind the future.

The head of government also emphasized on increasing the revenue of Bangladesh Biman.

She also directed to arrange training for those concerned to strengthen the security arrangements at the airport.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali, Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain, and Chairman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Air Vice Marshal Mofidur Rahman among others were present at the time.
