'Yaas' turned into a powerful cyclone

Hurricane 'Yaas' in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a powerful cyclone. However, the meteorological office said that the risk of injury in Bangladesh is low. Meteorologist Monowar Hossain told around 10 am on Tuesday.

Monwar Hossain said, " 'Yaas' has turned into a powerful cyclone. It could hit the Indian states of West Bengal and Orissa. However, the risk of injury in Bangladesh is low. It may have some effect on the Khulna coast. Besides, there may be less rain in the whole country."

The meteorologist further said that cyclone 'Yaas' was located 575 km south-southwest of Chattogram seaport, 525 km from Cox's Bazar, 490 km from Mongla seaport and 465 km from Payra seaport at around 9 am on Tuesday. It can gain more strength.

In addition, the maximum continuous wind speed within 64 km of the cyclone center is 89 km per hour. Its speed is increasing up to 117 km in the form of wind. Besides, the sea is in turbulent condition.

In the meantime, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display remote warning signal number 2. In addition, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and the deep sea have been asked to remain in safe shelter until further notice.
